Film Focus

Hi Everyone,
It’s been a while since my last blog. So far in this semester a lot of things happened. I finished my short film in December and it came out just as I imagined. A few weeks ago I won the first prize on the XL Projects Undergrad Exhibition sponsor by JPMorgan Chase. That means that “Whiteout”, my short film from last semester, is going to be shown at the banks lobby in Manhattan for an extended period of time! A few days ago I got the rushes back from the lab for this semester film, which is called “The Truth About Elsie”. Now I have to start editing and looking for someone to do the soundtrack. The rest of my classes are great. I’m definitely learning a lot, especially now in my Film Theory and Criticism class. I just did my presentation on Richard Dyer (who was on campus last semester and did a lecture on “Italian Horror Cinema” –really interesting-), Andrew Sarris, and Molly Haskell. I have to say that I enjoyed discussing Haskell’s work as she talks about the representation of women in the movies and how it changes throughout the years. So far, I have a different focus each semester, this year the focus is on film theory, but next year is about film business. Focusing your years or semester is a great way to study in college, because you have a lot of options and it might be a little confusing or overwhelming.
